Smooth domain transfer process

I transferred an old .net domain to Name.com last week. The process started with me unlocking the domain at my old registrar and getting the authorization code. Then, on Name.com, I just put in the domain and code, paid the transfer fee, and it initiated the transfer. It took about 5 days for the transfer to complete, which is standard. I got email updates at each stage, which was helpful. Once it was fully transferred, I could easily manage the DNS settings and point it to my new host. The interface for managing domains is clean and easy to navigate. No unexpected charges or anything, just a solid experience from start to finish.

Decent price for a .org

I needed a .org domain for a community project and found Name.com. The price was good, way better than some other sites I checked. I didn't use any special codes, just the listed price. It felt like a fair deal and I got my domain registered pretty fast. For a first-time buy, I think it was worth it.

Reliable for renewals

I've been using Name.com for years for several domains, and this last renewal for my main .com was as smooth as ever. I always get reminder emails well in advance, which is super helpful. I just log in, hit renew, and it's done. No fuss, no drama. They've been consistent over the years, and that's why I keep coming back. It just works.

Domain registered, no fuss

Needed a domain for my blog, so I checked out Name.com. It was easy to search and register. Didn't have any issues. The whole thing was pretty quick, no drama. Got an email confirmation right away. Felt good, you know? Just wanted something simple and it was.

Good value, some hiccups

I bought a new .com domain name and some web hosting from Name.com last month. The prices were pretty competitive, especially for the first year. Setting up the domain was straightforward enough, but the hosting setup felt a little less intuitive than I expected. Delivery was instant for the domain, which was great, but getting the hosting sorted took a bit more back and forth with their support. They were helpful once I got through, but it wasn't super quick. Overall, I got what I paid for, but the hosting side could be smoother.

Hey, thinking of getting a new .com domain here. Any good deals around right now? Or should I wait for something like Black Friday?

D Derek Carter 2 months ago
They usually have a 99 cent domain deal sometimes, or at least 10-50% off for new registrations. Check their promo page, I always find something there.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are usually their biggest sales, so if you're not in a rush, you might snag a better deal then. But they do monthly codes too, often for specific TLDs.

Does Name.com include free WHOIS privacy? Or is that an extra charge I gotta look out for?

T Tom H. 3 months ago
Sometimes they have a code for free privacy protection, especially for new registrations. Always check for that before you finalize.

I think it's usually an add-on unless you catch a specific promo. It's worth getting though, stops a lot of spam.

Can I use more than one promo code at checkout? Like one for a domain and another for hosting?

N Nina Brooks 3 months ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one code per order. Tried stacking once and it didn't work.

They're usually pretty strict about that. You pick the best one for your cart, can't combine them. It's in their coupon policy afaik.

Is Name.com generally better than GoDaddy? I need a domain and maybe some basic hosting, but I'm trying to avoid GoDaddy if possible.

N Nina Kaur 2 months ago
I've used both and found Name.com's interface much cleaner. Customer service felt less 'salesy' too. For basic stuff, they're pretty solid.

Yeah, Namecheap is another good alternative if you're trying to avoid GoDaddy. Name.com is fine, but sometimes Namecheap or Porkbun have better pricing on renewals, something to keep an eye on.
